Fat Injection

Fat Injection

Adipose tissue is a good soft tissue filler whose use has increased recently. The person's own fat tissues are used. Therefore, it is cheap and easy to obtain and has no side effects and allergic effects. The fat taken can be used as a filler for every area in our body after certain processes.

It can be used to fill the gaps on the face and body, to improve skin quality (under poor quality skin areas with radiotherapy), to remove scars (atrophic scar filling), to get better results in breast aesthetics (composite breast augmentation), and for revision in breast reconstruction surgery. Since the fat given will continue to live in that area, a more permanent filling process is performed, not a temporary one. In addition, due to its stem cell content, it causes an increase in skin/subcutaneous tissue quality and thickness in the transferred area.

Before Surgery

Detailed medical history, patient examination, patient's expectations, information about the surgery, pre-procedure photography are taken.

Surgery

It can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia and/or sedation. In the first stage, the area where the fat will be extracted is determined. A half-centimeter incision is made and the fat is aspirated with the help of cannulas, provided that it is not too pressurized. The fat is filtered and made suitable for injection. It is then injected into the areas determined before surgery with small injectors and thin cannulas. The duration of the procedure varies according to the application area, but it usually takes about 30 minutes.

After Surgery

Discharge is planned on the same day. Patient can shower/bath the next day. Can return to daily activities immediately. Can return to work after 2 days of rest. Heavy activities are allowed after 1 month. These periods are valid if fat injection is performed alone. If it was performed in conjunction with any surgery, the healing and recovery periods of the first surgery are valid, fat injection does not require an additional healing or recovery period.

The duration of permanence of the injected fat varies from person to person. Since this is a kind of graft procedure, some of the transferred cells continue to live in the transferred area. Thus, approximately 40-50% of it becomes permanent. With repeated sessions, there may be no need for further filling.
