Chin Aesthetics (Genioplasty)

These are surgeries that can be performed for patients whose jaw structure is not proportional to the other parts of the face. The aim of jaw surgeries is to achieve a balance between the jaw structure and other parts of the face. It can be applied to both women and men.

Chin Implant

Those with a receding chin, a large nose, a fleshy neck structure, and a square-shaped chin structure are suitable candidates.
The implants to be applied can be very diverse. The aim is to use quality material that can create a hard and natural jaw line. Additional interventions such as nose surgery and lip augmentation can be added to this surgery.

Before Surgery

Detailed medical information about the person is obtained. Medications and additional diseases are questioned. The person's expectations and complaints about the jaw are listened to. The procedures can be done in the surgery and the image will be obtained are discussed together. Other facial structures of the patient are examined in detail. Patient examination is performed. Appropriate drawings are made and necessary photographs are taken. 3D simulations can be made for the chin.

Surgery

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It takes about 1 hour. The incisions can be made under the chin or through the mouth. If done through the mouth, the risk of bacterial contamination is higher, but there is no visible scar. The appropriate implant is then placed on the chin. No drain is placed.

After Surgery

The patient is discharged the same day or the next day. If an intraoral incision is made, it is supported with appropriate antibiotics. His/her diet is mainly liquid in the first days. He can take a bath as soon as he goes home. Intraoral stitches dissolve spontaneously. Stitches under the chin are removed on the 10th day. The person's face and around the jaw may swell and bruise. The patient can return to work after 7-10 days.

Are Implants Safe?

The surgery is quite safe and have permanent results. There may be some complications. The implant may be displaced, there may be numbness in the jaw as a result of nerve damage, infection may occur.

Chin Reduction (Mentoplasty)

It is performed under general anesthesia. It takes about 1 hour. The incisions can be made under the chin or inside the mouth. If it is done through the mouth, the risk of bacterial contamination is higher, but there is no visible scar. The mandible is cut, reduced and reshaped and fixed with the help of titanium plates and screws.

Is it Safe?

This surgery is quite safe and has permanent results. There may be some complications. Infection rates are much less common as there is no foreign body inserted. Chewing may be painful at the beginning as there is a bone healing period, and it may take a little longer for the swelling to disappear.

Result

With both surgeries, the person's self-confidence increases. Additional procedures such as nose surgery, fat injection, lip augmentation can be added to achieve more proportional results.
