Bleparoplasty

It is a surgery that can be applied to both upper and lower eyelids, removing excess skin and the fat layer that causes puffiness. The aim of the surgeries is to achieve a smoother, rested and younger looking eye contour. Because over the years, the sagging skin and prominent fat pads that form around the eyes with stress and lack of sleep will give a tired and old expression and will negatively affect your visual field.

Upper and lower eyelid surgeries can be performed independently or in the same session. It can be applied to both men and women.

Before Surgery 
Detailed medical information about the person is obtained. Medications and additional diseases are questioned. The person's expectations and complaints about the eye area are listened to. The procedures can be done to the person's eyelids and the image will be obtained are discussed together. Patient examination is performed. Appropriate drawings are made and necessary photographs are taken.

Surgery
Lower lid blepharoplasty can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia + sedation, and upper lid blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia only. For the upper lid the incision is placed in the natural upper lid crease, for the lower lid it is placed immediately parallel to the base of the eyelashes. The operation time is 30 minutes to 1 hour for the upper eyelid and 1 to 2 hours for the lower eyelid. After the surgery, appropriate strips are placed and dressing is applied. 

After Surgery 
Eating starts in the early postoperative period and the patient is mobilized after eating. The patient can be discharged on the same day or can stay in the hospital for 1 night. There may be mild swelling and bruises on the face. These complaints can be reduced by regular cold con in the early period. The bandages are removed on the 2nd-3rd day and the patient can take a bath. Stitches are removed on the 5th day. Swelling and bruises disappear within 7-10 days and makeup can be applied after this period. You can return to work on the 3rd-5th day after surgery. Light activities can be done after 2 to 3 weeks and heavy activities can be done after 1 month.

Do I Have Obvious Scars? 
For the upper lid, the scars corresponding to the natural lid crease, and for the lower lid, they correspond to just under the eyelashes and their location is not obvious. They are hidden in natural anatomical folds.

What are the Risks? 
These are surgeries with rare risks. Bleeding, prominent scars or asymmetries between the two lids can be seen. In the first days, there may be complaints such as burning, stinging and watering in the eyes, especially due to swelling. With the eye drops recommended by your doctor, your postoperative problems will decrease and disappear.

Result 
It is a personalized treatment method. As a result of the surgery, lower eyelid bags are removed and taut and youthful upper eyelids are obtained. It gives the person a younger and rested expression. To achieve better and long-lasting results, eyebrow lift, forehead lift, mid-face lift, fat injection, fillers and botox, laser skin rejuvenation and tightening procedures can be added.
